Training Curriculum

I work on a Baseline of Commands to create a balanced dog. I also address, in my dog training, any behaviors you deem unacceptable and work to modify them to train your dog to be the dog you want it to be.

Baseline Obedience Commands
•    Heel- Once he has mastered the “heel”, your dog will be able to walk calmly next to you without any pulling, lunging, marking, or jumping. Your dog will be able to heel in high distraction areas.
•    Sit/Stay- You will give your dog the “sit” command one time, and your dog will sit and stay until he is released.
•    Down/Stay- You will give your dog the “down” command one time and your dog will lie down in a relaxed state until he is released.
•    Place- You will give the dog the “place” command, and your dog will go over to a blanket, towel, mat, or dog bed, and immediately settle down and relax until he is released.
•    Wait- This is an unspoken command where your dog will learn not to rush through doors without permission, whether it’s your house or vehicle door, because this can be a potentially dangerous situation.
•    Recall- I have a training system in place that will ensure that your dog will come back to you each time you call your dog in any situation, including very high distraction and busy traffic areas.
•    Treadmill- Daily exercise is a requirement for dogs with the walk being the most important form. I highly recommend treadmills for the days when you’re unable to give your dog the exercise he needs outdoors, and it only takes five minutes to teach. If you have a dog and a treadmill then your dog has a lifetime of fitness, which is one of the best things you can give your dog.
•    Swim- We swim dogs year round, whether it’s in our pool or the ocean. If you want your dog to learn how to swim for exercise, safety or therapeutic reasons, we will achieve this using our swim training that teaches dogs how to swim in one session.

Behavior Modification
It is not difficult to eliminate most bad behaviors once you are pro-active with the training of the baseline obedience commands above. Keep in mind that I work with All Dogs (any size, breed, age, behavior).
A few of the most common issues I have successfully addressed (thought I can address any issue your dog may have) are:

•    Jumping
•    Barking
•    Table & counter Surfing
•    Rushing out doors
•    Separation Anxiety
•    Leash Reactivity
•    Resource Guarding (food or toy)
•    Aggression (Dog/Dog or Dog/Human)*
•    Dog chasing things (Cats, other small animals, etc)
•    Baby proofing

These are a few common issues, but I have seen every possible bad behavior from a dog & I am able to work with it, regardless. Your dog is not unique & many families struggle with these issues everyday.
